Director & Choral Groups
The Director:
My name is Frederick Johnson. I am Director of Choral Music and instructor of Music Technology and Music Theater at Falmouth High School.
In my over 20 years of teaching in Falmouth, I have been an active member of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA), the Cape Cod Music Educators Association (CCMEA), of which I am a past president, and the American Choral Directors Association. I have been conductor of both the Falmouth High School Choir and Repertory Singers, who have received several awards and have performed throughout the community of Falmouth and the eastern part of the United States.
Before coming to Falmouth, I taught choral music in New Hampshire and North Carolina, and before teaching, graduated with a Bachelor of Music form The University fo Iowa, a Master of Music from The State University of New York at Stony Brook and did post graduate studies in music at the University of Illinois.
I presently live with my wife Irene in Hatchvile and have two sons, Ryan and Clinton.
I look forward again to working with all students interested in singing and ejoying music at Falmouth High School.
The Chorus:
The Falmouth High school Choir is a non-auditioned group which meets five days out of the 6 day schedule. The group performs in 3 major concerts a year along with several other concerts in the community, at graduation, and for national and state competitions, where they have received several awards. The group performs music from all styles from pop and Broadway to classical .
The Repertory Singers:
The Falmouth High School Repertory Singers is an auditioned singing group. Besides singing in 3 major concerts during the year, the group performs for local community groups and events, and makes a tour of the local nursing homes annually. This group also performs for national and state competitions, and has received several awards for their fine performances . Students in Repertory Singers audition annually by demonstrating with a solo performance and sight-reading ability. Students in this group are encouraged to audition for local, state, national festivals, and solo and ensemble performances. The group performs music of all different styles with some staging and choreography.
